Jeff Scott's greetings from Omaha

"The Friday morning round at the NCAA tournament is considered the 'money round.' Essentially, the wrestlers in the quarterfinals wrestle to be All-Americans.

"If a wrestler wins in the quarterfinals, they are guaranteed to be in the top eight in the country. There was a great amount of anticipation for this round, and many people think it is the best session in the tournament. The arena was sold out, and there were about 16,000 fans going crazy.

"I spent a lot of time with Illini head coach Jim Heffernan before the Friday evening session. I have known Heff for about 14 years, but I am always amazed at how great of a person he is. He is so down to earth, so mild-mannered, yet an incredible wrestling coach with an outstanding resume. Jim is so involved in helping high school and youth wrestlers in our area and is a great mentor to many athletes in our community."
