Marianetti works OT for wrestling berth

Former University of Illinois wrestler Steve Marianetti earned a spot on the U.S. World Championships Team on Saturday in Waterloo, Iowa, by defeating Rob Koll of Ithaca, N.Y., in the 1671/2-pound weight class.
Marianetti, an assistant coach on the UI staff, beat Koll 3-1 in the first match, lost 3-2 in overtime in the second and pulled out a 3-2 overtime victory in the decisive bout.
The world championships are in September in Tehran, Iran.
