Jenna Smith an All-America candidate

CHAMPAIGN -- Illinois senior Jenna Smith on Tuesday was named one of five players named to the All-Region 6 women's basketball team, which serves as nominations to the State Farm Coaches All-America awards.
Smith is one of 52 players who made the first cut. The field will be narrowed to 40 on March 23, and from there 10 All-Americans will be named next month.
Joining Smith on the All-Region 6 team are Ohio State's Jantel Lavender and Samantha Prahalis, Iowa's Kachine Alexander and Missouri State's Casey Garrison.

Smith on Friday is expected to become Illinois all-time scoring leader. She trails Ashley Berggren (2,089) by two points entering Friday's WNIT opener at Western Kentucky.
