When was the last time the UI women's basketball team was ranked, and will it happen this season?

The Illini last appeared in The Associated Press Top 25 poll on Nov. 24, 2000. It could happen this season, partly because of the unusual landscape in college basketball this season. Only Connecticut and Stanford are "sure things." Everybody from No. 3 in the preseason AP Top 25 on down to No. 25 could be considered shaky. It won't be surprising to see an abnormally large turnover in the poll in any given week, with teams moving in and out often. If the Illini have a good nonconference season or knock off Ohio State or Michigan State during conference play, they could get ranked.
