Why did you pick Illinois?
Karisma Penn: I chose Illinois because I felt like it would be the best fit for me personally. I have a great relationship with the coaching staff. I know that they will help me to be the best student-athlete I can be. I felt comfortable with the team and being on campus. I knew it was the place for me.
What did you know about the University of Illinois and its women's basketball program before the recruiting process began?
KP: I didn't know too much about Illinois before the recruiting process, other than the obvious things. I knew they were in the Big Ten, school colors, etc. I knew that the basketball team had a new staff and that they beat Ohio State in the Big Ten tournament. That's pretty much it.
Who has had the biggest influence on your basketball career?
KP: I wouldn't pinpoint any one person as having the biggest influence over me. Many people have helped me to get to where I am today. All of my former coaches (skillwise); my mother definitely always supports me; and my brothers' trash-talking made me always want to be the best.
Which of your basketball accomplishments brings the most pride?
KP: I don't have one specific thing that stands out in my career. I am proud of all the awards and accolades I have received.
Three words that describe your play on the court.
KP: Resilient, tenacious, fearless.
