News you can't leave work without:

Abby Nelson won't play volleyball again at Illinois.

A starter in 2008, the middle blocker missed the 2009 season because of a degenerative hip injury. Nelson appeared in 49 matches in two seasons, totaling 218 kills and 129 blocks while hitting .287. She also led the Illini in service aces (29) as a sophomore.

"We feel for Abby because she came to Illinois with such promise," Illinois coach Kevin Hambly said. "As a sophomore we saw glimpses of just how good she could be. We will certainly miss her competitiveness and play on the court and wish her the best."
