5 O'Clock Shadow

Good news on two fronts today for the Illinois volleyball team. Junior middle blocker Johannah Bangert was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week and the Illini rose two spots in the national rankings.
Bangert was honored after racking up 19 block assists in two matches last weekend, including a school record-tying 13 against Purdue on Friday. Bangert matched the record set by Kellie Hebeisen in 1991 against Georgia in the Illini Classic.
Illinois (12-3) is No. 10 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, its second-highest ranking of the regular season. The Illini were No. 8 in the first poll.
