Ryler DeHeart loses to Andy Roddick

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Top-seeded Andy Roddick beat qualifier Ryler DeHeart 6-1, 7-6 (1) Wednesday night in the first round of the SAP Open.
Roddick was playing his first match since the Australian Open, when he was hindered by a sore right shoulder in a five-set loss to Marin Cilic in the quarterfinals.
The shoulder didn't appear to bother Roddick against the former Illini standout, who was playing just his fourth match on the main tour.
Roddick served 11 aces, reaching 146 mph on the radar gun. He rolled through an easy first set before rallying from 5-2 down in the second set to force a tiebreaker. Roddick won the first four points of the tiebreaker and advanced easily to the second round.
