Shapiro nets qualifying victory

Illinois junior Stacy Schapiro advanced to final-round qualifying at the ITA National Clay Court Championships with a win Tuesday in Orlando, Fla.
Schapiro won 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 over Gabriela Hricko of 22nd-ranked Harvard. She'll meet sixth-seeded Simone Bock of New Mexico State today, with a berth in the main draw at stake.
