UI softball lands another Texas prep
Katie Repole, a sophomore outfielder from Spring Branch, Texas, has orally committed to the Illinois softball team.
As a freshman, Repole started in left field and hit .400 for Class 5A state champion Smithson Valley High School. She was selected to the All-District second team in the Texas 26-5A District and also earned second-team All-Comal County honors.
Repole plays the middle infield for Texas Bombers Gold travel ball team. Bombers Gold teammate Jade Smith, a sophomore center fielder at New Braunfels (Texas) High School, committed to the Illini last fall.
Repole has played nine years of travel ball with the Texas Bombers, with her teams qualifying for national tournaments each year. In 2009, Repole and Smith helped the Bombers advance to the ASA Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City, Okla.
