Illini a Kann-do crew

QUINCY – Missy Kann made sure Illinois' dominance was rewarded.

Kann scored one minute into sudden death as the undefeated Illinois women's soccer team beat host Quincy 1-0 Wednesday night.

The Illini, 2-0 in their first season of varsity competition, got off 20 shots to just three for Quincy. Kann, a senior co-captain from Libertyville, scored her first goal since high school.

"We played really good soccer," UI coach Jillian Ellis said. "I thought our defense as a whole played great."

Illinois plays this weekend in St. Louis, facing Rhodes College and Washington University.
