Ask Voice of the Illini Brian Barnhart if this is a wise move here

News you can't leave work without:

Illinois on Wednesday announced it will no longer charge admission for home games involving the wrestling, gymnastics, track, baseball, softball and soccer teams.

The first free event is Friday's wrestling match against West Virginia at Huff Hall.

"This is an exciting announcement for our wrestling fans as they can now see our nationally ranked team at no cost," wrestling coach Jim Heffernan said. "We hope this translates to bigger crowds and an even better atmosphere at Huff Hall for our student-athletes."

Illinois still will charge admission for home games in football, men's and women's basketball, and volleyball.

Note: Due to the death of his father, Heffernan will not coach Friday's match. Former Illini Carl Perry will lead the Illini against the Mountaineers.
