MEN

TRACY ABRAMS (Mount Carmel) – University of Dayton bound Brandon Spearman dogged Abrams all night, limiting him to nine points on 3-of-14 shooting from the field, including 1 of 8 from the three-point line as Simeon defeated Mount Carmel 55-47 last Friday at the Class 4A Lyons Sectional championship. The Caravan finished the season 26-5.

NNANNA EGWU (Chicago St. Ignatius) – Season over.

MEYERS LEONARD (Robinson) – Two words: state champion. In last Friday's semifinal, Leonard had 19 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks to lead Robinson past Hales Franciscan 64-61. On Saturday, he registered 16 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots in a 76-68 overtime victory against Peoria Manual. Did we mention the three-quarter court shot he made to end the first quarter? The Maroons finished 27-5.

JEREME RICHMOND (Waukegan) – will be playing in Peoria on Friday thanks to a 72-54 defeat of Schaumburg last Friday and a 75-61 victory against Bartlett on Tuesday. Richmond double-doubled in both games (16 points and 10 rebounds against Schaumburg, 26 points and 12 rebounds against Bartlett). The Bulldogs (26-4) will face Whitney Young and Oregon State recruit Ahmad Starks in a rematch of last year's championship game. Waukegan beat Whitney Young 59-42 earlier this season on Feb. 20.
