MEN

TRACY ABRAMS (Mount Carmel) — The Caravan suffered its first conference setback last Friday, losing in overtime to Hales 71-70. Abrams scored 22 points but missed a potential game-winning three-pointer at the end of regulation. Its Catholic League title hopes took another hit Tuesday as Mount Carmel (20-4, 10-2) lost to conference leader De La Salle 69-60. After a matchup against Fenwick tonight, the Caravan faces host St. Patrick in the City Suburban Shootout on Saturday at Illinois-Chicago.

NNANNA EGWU (Chicago St. Ignatius) — Despite his double-double (13 points, 12 blocks), the Wolfpack fell to Leo 49-47 in overtime last Friday. In a second consecutive overtime game, St. Ignatius (12-11, 7-5) squeaked by Brother Rice 51-49 on Tuesday. Egwu led the Wolfpack with 17 points. This weekend sees back-to-back games against Bishop McNamara tonight, then a road trip to Evanston on Saturday.

MEYERS LEONARD (Robinson) — Went 6 for 8 from the line to finish with 10 points as Robinson beat Salem 65-53 last Friday. Leonard then scored 17 in a 75-69 victory against Charleston on Tuesday. The Maroons (20-8, 11-3) finish the regular season at home against Mount Zion tonight, then open Class 2A regional play Tuesday as the No. 1 seed at the Flora Regional, where they will take on the Newton/Lawrenceville winner.

JEREME RICHMOND (Waukegan) — The McDonald’s All-American scored 31 points in an 83-63 blowout of Niles West last Friday. The Bulldogs face Evanston tonight, then Whitney Young at the City Suburban Shootout on Saturday.

CRANDALL HEAD (Rich South) — Injured.

WOMEN
ALEXIS BURKE (Bainbridge, Ga.) — Bainbridge opened 1-AAAA regional play with a victory against Upson-Lee and faces Lee County tonight. The Cats (23-2) have not lost to a AAAA opponent this season.

CENTRESE McGEE (Thornton Fractional North) — CICS/Longwood proved to be no problem for the Meteors as they rolled to an 86-31 win in their opening-round regional game Tuesday. McGee advanced in the three-point shootout competition. T.F. North took on Rich South on Thursday.
