Illini hand out basketball awards

Illinois hosted its 87th basketball banquet tonight at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Urbana. Here were the awards handed out at the ceremony:
Illini Rebounders Award: Mike Davis
- Big Ten's leading rebounder said he'll compete in USA Basketball tryouts this summer
Ralf Woods Free Throw Trophy: Mike Tisdale
- Award goes to top foul shooter in Big Ten play; 7-footer's 81.3 percent led all comers
Sixth Man Award: Calvin Brock
- After being a part of 89 wins last four seasons, senior said he'll pursue overseas options
Lou Henson Courage Award: Trent Meacham
- He's our Student-Journalist of the Year, and his final diary is coming in Sunday's News-Gazette
Matt Heldman "Matto" Award: Chester Frazier
- It was a Matto landslide: Frazier won his second Matto award by almost 50 points
Kenny Battle Most Inspirational Player: Chester Frazier
- Senior said he's had overseas overtures but is leaning toward returning as student assistant
Most Improved Player: Mike Davis
- Gene Keady told UI staff that the Illini were nation's most improved team "man-by-man"
Most Valuable Player: Chester Frazier
- Frazier was the only player that didn't vote for him; "I voted for Trent," Frazier said
