News you can't leave work without:

If Illinois offers Travis Britt, he's accepting.

"Illinois is my dream school," the high school freshman said Tuesday. "Even if someone like North Carolina came to me, I'd still go to Illinois. I got hooked watching Dee and Deron."

Britt moved from Champaign to Rantoul in second grade. He caught the attention of Division I basketball coaches as a standout player at Eater Junior High.

Instead of attending Rantoul High, he's a 16-year-old freshman at Culver (Ind.) Military Academy and an emerging star in the recruiting class of 2012.

"This is something I wanted to try," he said. "My academics needed to get better."

Would he consider returning to Rantoul to play for the Eagles before his high school career is over?

"I can't make that call right now. I like it here but I do get homesick a lot," Britt said. "I could come back but I don't know what I'm going to do."

Britt, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard, made an unofficial visit to Illinois on Saturday, taking in the outdoor basketball practice and mingling with the current Illini.

He said coaches from Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue and Cincinnati have attended his workouts at Culver.
