Illini men's golfers finish ninth

WINDERMERE, Fla. — Sixth-ranked Illinois finished ninth in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational men’s golf tournament Tuesday.
The Illini shot a 10-over-par 298 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 901. Illinois finished 20 strokes behind team champion and top-ranked Oklahoma State but was within 5 strokes of fifth place.
The 15-team field included 11 nationally ranked squads.
Illini junior Scott Langley closed with a 1-over 73, climbing 13 spots in the final standings to a tie for 20th place. His total of 8-over 224 was 13 shots behind medalist Bud Cauley of Alabama.
UI sophomore Luke Guthrie tied for 25th at 226 after shooting a final-round 77.
