Women's golfers in sixth after Day 1

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Junior Raquel Hopton and sophomore Kaitlyn Wampler each shot 5-over 77s on Monday to lead Illinois to sixth place after the first round of the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate outside Denver.
The Illini are at 24-over 312, 14 strokes behind first-place Denver, in the 13-team tournament. The 54-hole tournament continues today with the second round.
