Fri, June 20: Illini bounced from tourney

University of Illinois golfer Jacqueline Rubin was knocked out of the Illinois Women's State Amateur Golf Championship on Thursday in Mattoon.

Rubin fell to Algonquin's Laura Kanney-Jones 2 and 1.

In the championship flight consolation bracket, Illinois recruit Alicia Pascavage, a Bismarck-Henning graduate, beat McNabb's Penny Derick 6 and 4 but then lost to Long Grove's Abby Derman 3 and 2. Derman earlier knocked out the UI's Michelle Lin 5 and 4.

Area players still alive in other flights:

Savoy's Wendy Evans (first-flight consolation); Champaign's Dorris Higgins (second consolation); Danville's Sandy Mulcahey and Urbana's Catherine Scudder (third consolation); and Danville's Norma Jenkins and Martha Donna (fourth consolation).

Danville's Pamela Howell was knocked out of the first flight 4 and 3 by Lafayette's Amy St. John.
