Our Guide To Ron Zook
For the fifth time since 1987, Illinois is looking for a new football coach. As expected, Ron Zook was fired Sunday morning.
Said new AD Mike Thomas: "I was continually assessing, evaluating the process, knowing the last couple of weeks that something would change my mind, that we would do something competitively that would give me hope for the future. ... Last night, I really came to the final conclusion that it was time to move."
Zook had a news conference in which he didn't take questions. ""I think our program is very close. I really do. We just didn't quite finish a few games here and there, but I'm proud of how close we are."
