Miles Osei
Quarterback
Mount Prospect
6-1, 185
Our take: With Eddie McGee making the full transition to wide receiver, the Illini brought in a fourth quarterback, Osei, who has a skill set similar to redshirt freshman Nathan Scheelhaase. He's equally dangerous in the pocket and on the run. The two-time News-Gazette All-State selection is lesser known than classmate Chandler Whitmer but may have an even better upside.
Why Illinois? "I just felt like it was the best fit for me."
Favorite moment in football: Playing in the state semifinals against Lake Zurich as a freshman kick and punt returner. "The whole game atmosphere was awesome. I just had a blast up there."
Favorite football player, college or pro: "Pat White or Tim Tebow."
What school do you want to see the Big Ten add? "I think they were talking about Missouri, which I think would be a cool school to add because they're kind of big time. And a team like Florida would be awesome, to add the top team coming to the Big Ten."
College football playoff or BCS? "BCS probably because the playoffs would take away the excitement. The bowl games, you get to enjoy that one game at the end of the season."
What is your hidden talent? "I'm a pretty good baseball player."
Are you playing in the Missouri game? "I'm gonna be there, so I'm going to do everything in my power to play in that game. I can't guarantee it, but I'm going to do everything in my power to get myself prepared to play in that game."
What do you need to improve most before the start of the season? "I just think I need to get stronger and bigger and make sure I learn the Illinois playbook and get everything down pat."
