Our take: Paul Petrino has made it clear he needs a fullback or three to run his offense. Though he hasn't played the position in high school, he blocked as a junior offensive lineman and attacked as a senior linebacker. Prosch has the right attitude to play fullback. And he wants to get on the field early. He'll work hard in the summer to learn the offense. Don't be surprised if you see him in the opener against Missouri. He's also got a skill set that works well on special teams.
Why Illinois? "I loved it. It's the Big Ten, a bigger school, a bigger deal. I liked the college atmosphere. There were students everywhere. It was an active place. That's something I'm really going to need. The facilities are awesome. I really liked the coaches. I bonded with a lot of the players. There's not really a downside except for the distance, and I'm not going to not choose somewhere because of the distance."
What's your favorite moment in football? "Definitely last year (2008 season), we went to state and won the state championship. We beat the team 42-7. We killed them. It was the best year ever. I was playing offensive line, but I was still having fun. Everybody was friends."
Favorite football player, college or pro: "Rolando McClain and Mark Ingram are both football players that I respect and like a lot. But I've never really had a real favorite."
What school do you want to see the Big Ten add? "Honestly, I don't know much about the Big Ten. Being where I'm at, it's all about the SEC. I don't even know all the schools that are in it."
College football playoff or BCS? "The thing about the playoffs is you can have one bad game and it can all be over. That kind of scares me. I think I like the way it is now."
What is your hidden talent? "I'm really good at weightlifting. Ever since I was in ninth grade, I've always been kind of naturally strong."
Are you playing in the Missouri game? "Honestly, I think I will be."
What do you need to improve most before the start of the season? "Strengthwise, I'm fine. Speedwise, I don't really know what speed I need to be at. I'm decently fast. I probably just need to get used to being back on offense."
