Illini's grade: D minus
Player of the game: Dan Herron, Ohio State.
The sophomore running back scored two touchdowns, making it the eighth consecutive game he's reached pay dirt at least once. With an emphasis on the run, he carried the ball 14 times for 75 yards in a constant downpour.

Illinois totaled 170 yards of offense. That was the figure Juice Williams was hoping to get himself to move past Kurt Kittner on the all-time list at Illinois. Even abandoning the pass for long stretches, the Buckeyes had their way with the Illini.
Defense

Ohio State A+
Two straight shutouts for the Buckeyes is going to get them some attention as having one of the best units in the nation. They flustered the Illinois offense all day and were never really in any danger of yielding points. The Illini can't give up 236 yards on the ground against good tams and expect to win.

Anthony Santella was pretty good punting the ball. That was one of few bright spots on a day when A.J. Jenkins hesitated in running a kick out of the end zone, Jarred Fayson misplayed a punt and Ohio State kicked field goals of 46 and 50 yards.
Overall
Illinois D-
Ohio State A
The Buckeyes are pretty good, yes, but Illinois is better than this. An offense with so much talent can't put up a zero. Things aren't looking good for the Illini, who will be tested weekly in the Big Ten. Will we see changes for Penn State?
