Recruiting: Fulton ready to commit?
Homewood-Flossmoor senior offensive lineman Zach Fulton is just about ready to end his recruitment.
Fulton, the younger brother of former Illini and rookie Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman Xavier Fulton, is traveling to Knoxville to visit the Tennessee campus for the third time. He will likely give first-year Volunteers head coach Lane Kiffin his verbal pledge Fulton's father, Glen, told IlliniHQ on Sunday evening.
"We've got a full schedule for (Monday)," Glen Fulton said. "We'll be meeting with Coach Kiffin probably around 12:30. Then we have our last meeting at 1:30. I would say by then we'll have decided what's going on.
We're definitely going to make a decision here."
Fulton had planned to spend the weekend in Tennessee, but those plans were sadly put on hold as the Fulton family mourned the death of Zach's grandfather, who passed away a week ago.
Though he has frequently visited the Illinois campus to see his older brother, Zach Fulton looks to be blazing his own trail to the SEC. Ranked the 21st best offensive guard in the nation by Rivals.com, Fulton has offers from Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota.
Fulton was named the offensive line MVP at the June 6 Nike Football Training Camp in Champaign. There, he told IlliniHQ that he wanted to make a decision by the "end of the month or by July."
"Illinois, I'm familiar with the program," Fulton said. "I like them a lot. It's still one of my options.
"Tennessee is probably my top right now. Like I said, I'm looking to commit pretty soon."
