UI makes it a Jackson trio
Four days after Marc Jackson committed to the Illinois football team, Ron Turner landed another member of the family.
On Saturday, Illinois hired Robert Jackson as receivers coach. He replaces Buddy Teevens, who left for a job at Florida.
Robert Jackson has spent the last two seasons as director of football operations at Oregon State. He worked from 1990 to '96 as an assistant to Beavers coach Jerry Pettibone.
Jackson is returning to his home state. The Harvey native played football and baseball and Northern Illinois. After college, he went to work as a football and baseball coach at Thornwood High School.
In '85, Jackson joined the Northern Illinois staff, working as receivers coach. He followed Pettibone to Corvallis, Ore.
"Having grown up in and spent 40 years of my life in Illinois, this is a real pleasure for me to return to my home state at the University of Illinois," Jackson said.
Sophomore Bobby Jackson is a two-year starter at safety, and Marc Jackson will join the team in the fall. The Crescent Valley (Ore.) standout could join his brother in the Illini secondary.
