Jackson picks Illinois over Michigan
CORVALLIS, Ore. – When the Illinois football team plays Michigan next October, it won't be brother against brother.
Marc Jackson, a star safety and running back at Crescent Valley High School, picked Illinois over Michigan on Wednesday. Instead of lining up opposite his brother, Illini safety Bobby, Marc Jackson could end up starting next to him against the Wolverines.
Jackson visited the Illinois campus Saturday and Sunday, a week after a trip to Ann Arbor. When he returned home from Champaign-Urbana, Jackson canceled a visit to Arizona. He was supposed to travel to Notre Dame in January.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is considered one of the top safety prospects in the country.
Jackson isn't the only player to commit to the Illini after a weekend visit. Chicago Mount Carmel linebacker Jerry Schumacher picked the school over Indiana. The News-Gazette All-Stater led his team to the Class 5A championship.
