Top running back commits to Illini
After another blowout loss Saturday, the Illinois coaches heard some good news: Antoineo Harris is joining the team.
The News-Gazette All-State running back from Bolingbrook committed to Illinois. Considered the top back in the state, Harris picked the Illini over Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern, Boston College and others.
"We feel that Ron Turner can turn the program around," said Calvin Harris, Antoineo's father. "We feel that the talent should stay in the state. The 0-7 (record) doesn't make a difference."
Harris visited campus this weekend with his parents and teammate Todd Howard, another potential UI recruit. The two players stayed in Champaign on Saturday night, spending time with current Illini and former Bolingbrook star Eric Garrett.
