NEW YORK — Angela Bizzarri of Illinois has won the 2010 Honda Award for cross-country.
Bizzarri won the NCAA cross-country title in a school record of 19 minutes, 46.8 seconds for the six-kilometer race. The eight-time All-American also won the NCAA 5,000 title in June.
The senior from Mason, Ohio, won the award on Wednesday.
The other finalists were Susan Kuijken of Florida State, Kendra Schaaf of Washington and Catherine White of Virginia. They were selected by finish at the cross-country championships.
The Honda Award is given annually to the top female athletes in 12 NCAA sports. Each is automatically nominated for the Honda-Broderick Cup given in June to the college female athlete of the year.
