Former Illini Shawn Roof finished his minor league baseball season with a flourish. In 25 games with Class AAA Toledo after being promoted by the parent Detroit Tigers, the second baseman hit .354 with a .441 on-base percentage. Although the Mud Hens finished 70-73, they won 14 of their final 22 games with Roof's help.
