Jeff Huth's take of the Illini's 10-7 loss to Ohio State on Saturday at Illinois Field:
AT THE PLATE
Illini third baseman Dominic Altobelli's 16-game hitting streak came to an end with an 0-for-5 day. The senior hit .523 (34 of 65) during the career-high streak to raise his batting average to .377 before going hitless Saturday.
ON THE MOUND
Illini right-hander Ben Reeser was scratched from his scheduled start due to a mild case of food poisoning that struck overnight. Freshman Will Strack took his place, throwing 3 2/3 innings and allowing four runs in a no-decision.
IN THE STANDS
A crowd of 1,538 boosted attendance for the first two games of the three-game series to 6,752, a new Illinois Field record. The previous high for a series at the 22-year-old facility was 5,820 on April 21-22, 1990 against Michigan.
RACKING UP THE RBI
Illini left fielder Casey McMurray drove in three runs, giving the sophomore nine RBI in his last seven games. McMurray has driven in at least one run in six of those contests.
UP NEXT
Sunday's 1:05 p.m. series finale matches Illini right-hander Bryan Roberts (5-2) against Buckeyes lefty Eric Best. Freshman Roberts is 2-0 in his last two Big Ten starts, with a 1.29 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 14 innings.
