Kennedy, Prater advance to semifinals  (Tuesday, December 29, 2009)

EVANSTON — Illinois senior Jimmy Kennedy and junior Ryan Prater took advantage of a rare opportunity — teammates being seeded in the same weight class at a major tournament — Tuesday and reached the semifinals in the 141-pound weight class at the 47th annual Midlands Championships.
Kennedy, who is redshirting, was the top seed at 141, and Prater was seeded seventh.

Sophomores help coach win home debut  (Sunday, December 13, 2009)

CHAMPAIGN – B.J. Futrell and Jordan Blanton were back in the lineup for Illinois on Saturday.

Wrestlers go 2-1 at Sprawl & Brawl  (Sunday, November 22, 2009)

VESTAL, N.Y. [--] The No. 17 Illinois wrestling team won two of three duals at the Sprawl & Brawl meet Sunday. The Illini beat Davidson (47-0) and West Virginia (23-15) but lost to Pittsburgh (18-15).

Eric Terrazas (149 pound), Conrad Polz (174) and John Dergo (184) went 3-0 for the Illini.

Angel resigns as track coach; wrestlers fall  (Thursday, November 12, 2009)

CHAMPAIGN – Wayne Angel resigned Thursday as head coach of the Illinois men's track and field team, citing a desire to spend more time with his wife and family.

Angel, a 1982 UI graduate and former Illini track athlete, was in his seventh year as head coach at his alma mater. His resignation was effective immediately. Mike Turk, a fifth-year Illini assistant who has coached the field events, was named interim head coach for the 2010 season.

The Illinois volleyball team rose two spots, to No. 6, in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll on Monday

Bartsch helps end Wildcats' streak  (Wednesday, October 14, 2009)

CHAMPAIGN – Michelle Bartsch led a balanced attack with 13 kills as No. 10 Illinois defeated Northwestern 25-20, 25-16, 25-19 on Wednesday.

Laura DeBruler and Kylie McCulley each added 12 kills for the Illini (13-3, 5-2 Big Ten), who won their fourth straight. Northwestern (11-8, 2-5) had won four straight matches at Huff Hall.
