CHAMPAIGN – Illinois and Wisconsin split the 10 wrestling matches Sunday, but the 21st-ranked Illini got one more bonus point than the 13th-ranked Badgers to pull off a 19-18 upset at Huff Hall.

"We wrestled hard, did some good things and made some adjustments from Friday night (a 27-13 loss to No. 5 Minnesota)," coach Jim Heffernan said. "We needed bonus points at a few weights and it was important to get off to a good start, and we did both of those things."

Clint Arlis opened with a 18-3 technical fall at 157 pounds, and No. 14 Ryan Prater closed the scoring for the Illini with a 15-1 major decision at 141. No. 14 Jordan Blanton (174) also had a major decision. John Deneen scored a 4-2 decision at 125 for the Illini (8-6, 3-3).

No. 2 John Dergo beat No. 16 Travus Rutt 8-2 at 184 pounds to round out Illinois' scoring.

No. 19 Eric Terrazas (149) and No. 14 Patrick Bond (197) both lost to top-10 opponents.

In men's tennis:

Vols roll. Abe Souza won his eighth straight match, but the No. 12 Illini lost 6-1 at No. 5 Tennessee on Sunday.

In women's tennis:

Illini sweep doubleheader. No. 33 Rachael White, Megan Fudge and Amy Allin earned a pair of straight-set wins as No. 32 Illinois beat Marquette (6-1) and Western Illinois (7-0) on Sunday.
