Big Ten, Big 12 announce women's hoops series

CHAMPAIGN -- Illinois will face Colorado in each of the next two seasons as part of a Big Ten-Big 12 inter-conference series of women's basketball games, the leagues announced Wednesday.

The Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge will be played Dec. 4-5, 2010. The 2011 dates have not been determined, but the matchups have been set for each season of the two-year agreement. Each Big Ten team will play one game annually except for Wisconsin, which will square off against two Big 12 teams.

In 2010 and 2011, the Illini will face Colorado, coached by former UI assistant Kathy McConnell-Miller. Illinois will visit the Buffaloes in 2010, while Colorado will come to C-U in 2011.

The Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge will join the annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge on the league's schedule.
