Alexis Burke, a 5-foot-11 small forward from Bainbridge, Ga., has given Jolette Law'sUI women's basketball team an oral commitment to join the program for 2010-11.

Burke made an official visit to Illinois on Oct. 9. She also considered Oklahoma, Kentucky, Florida and Rutgers.

Burke is rated 50th nationally by ESPN HoopGurlz and 56th by Blue Star. She joins Thornton Fractional North guard Centrese McGee in the Illini's latest recruiting class that is expected to sign in November. The Illini have two more scholarships available for the senior class but are expected to carry those into the spring period and perhaps into the following year.

"She's a very, very athletic kid on the perimeter," Blue Star's Chris Mennig said. "She showed more of her perimeter skills in the past year. She's someone whose upside is really strong just because (of) her development on that side of the ball. She was a little bit of a post kid at a younger age. She can shoot from the outside, but it's not a consistent shot right now. It's one more piece in the puzzle that they're trying to put together, in that style."
