STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Angela Bizzarri finished a career-high second at the Big Ten cross-country meet Sunday, leading a pack of four All-Big Ten runners and helping the Illini women to a runner-up finish.
Bizzarri, who became Illinois' first four-time All-Big Ten first-teamer, ran the 6-kilometer course in 20 minutes, 10 seconds.
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Top-seeded Marek Czerwinski of Illinois advanced to the third round of the Big Ten Indoor Championships tennis tournament with a pair of straight-set victories Saturday.
Czerwinski opened with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Michael Sicora of Minnesota. In the second round, the Illini senior defeated Gullaume St. Maurice of Penn State 6-3, 6-4. Czerwinski will face 14th-seeded Steven Williams of Ohio State today.
Illini junior Abe Souza also reached the third round, remaining in the winners’ bracket by rallying for an 0-6, 6-2, 6-1 win against Ronnie Hulewicz of Michigan State in the second round.
WINDERMERE, Fla. – The Illinois men's golf team opened the loaded Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in 10th place Sunday after an opening-round 306 (18 over par).
Luke Guthrie was tied for 14th, 5 strokes behind the leaders after shooting a 1-over 73.
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The block party continues for the Illinois volleyball team.
One night after blocking a season-high 19 shots, the No. 8 Illini stopped 16 more while sweeping Iowa 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 Saturday night. The victory was Illinois' seventh in a row, matching its longest winning streak of the season. The Illini (16-3) completed the first half of the Big Ten race in a tie for second place with No. 9 Minnesota at 8-2.
MADISON, Wis. – A season-best blocking performance carried No. 8 Illinois to a come-from-behind Big Ten volleyball win against Wisconsin on Friday night.
CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Ohio State on Thursday at the Illinois Soccer Stadium.
The first-place Buckeyes (12-2-2, 5-1-1 Big Ten), who got two goals from Lauren Steuer and another from Tiffany Cameron, outshot the Illini 17-9.
