STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Angela Bizzarri finished a career-high second at the Big Ten cross-country meet Sunday, leading a pack of four All-Big Ten runners and helping the Illini women to a runner-up finish.

Bizzarri, who became Illinois' first four-time All-Big Ten first-teamer, ran the 6-kilometer course in 20 minutes, 10 seconds.

The 13th-ranked Illini (77) finished six points behind champion Penn State for its best finish since 2005.

Kristin Sutherland was seventh, Elizabeth Boyle was 11th and Chantelle Groenewoud was 13th for the Illini.

"Overall today, we ran really well," coach Jeremy Rasmussen said. "Obviously, having four girls earn All-Big Ten Honors was awesome. All four of them really got into the race early and got in really good position to be able to compete with the front group throughout the whole race."

For the Illini men, Colin Mickow finished 25th to lead the team to seventh.

In women's soccer:

Michigan 1, UI 0. The Wolverines put one shot on goal – and Alex Jendrusch's header went in – as the Illini wrapped up their home schedule with a loss. Illinois (7-8-3, 2-5-2) outshot the Wolverines 11-1.

In men's tennis:

Illini ousted. Top-seeded Marek Czerwinski and 12th-seeded Abe Souza were eliminated in the third round of the Big Ten Indoor Meet in East Lansing, Mich.

"Overall, it was a pretty disappointing weekend," Illini coach Brad Dancer said. "All three guys wanted to make a statement and put their stamp on the tournament, but I thought the effort was good. They showed a lot of resiliency and focus. We've just got to keep sharpening our skills and improve on our execution."
