AMBER MOORE

5-foot-11, Guard, Detroit Country Day

Averaged 13.5 points last season for the Yellowjackets, who won the Class B state title. Ranked the state's second-best player (behind Destiny Williams) by MichLadyBallers.com. Ranked 109th by Blue Star. Chose Illinois over Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue.

Tony Bleill's comment: A shooting guard in high school, Moore will give the Illini some height and a perimeter scoring touch in the backcourt.

Q: Why did you pick Illinois?

A: I picked Illinois simply because of Coach Law. During my official, I liked everything I saw, but when it was time to sit down with her, she had impressed me so much that I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Q: What did you know about the University of Illinois and its women's basketball program before the recruiting process began?

A: Well, I didn't know much of anything about the program before the recruiting process.

Q: Who has had the biggest influence on your basketball career?

A: My family has had the biggest influence on my career because they have been the people who have been by my side when no one was. They've supported me through all my struggles and I know they will be there for me when I go on to play at Illinois.

Q: Which of your basketball accomplishments brings the most pride?

A: Winning the state championship last year! That had to be the most exciting accomplishment I've ever achieved.

Q: Three words that describe your play on the court:

A: Passionate, unselfish, intelligent.
