Our take: Excuse Hill, a big New Orleans Saints fan, if he's more excited for Sunday's big game than today's Signing Day. But the Louisiana native is excited to move closer to his numerous Chicago-area relatives and play Big Ten football. Hill is an experienced center who could compete for playing time early in his career for Illinois, which is looking for a replacement for Eric Block, also a Louisiana native.

Why Illinois? "The coaches are so up-tempo, and they're really confident in what they're going to do this year. I can really appreciate that. I have an opportunity that if I do what I'm supposed to do in the offseason that I can hopefully get some playing time."

Favorite football player, college or pro: "Drew Brees."

What school do you want to see the Big Ten add? "If I could pick any team ... it would have to be LSU. I was like the only person in the world down here that didn't root for them. I just think they're overrated."

College football playoff or BCS? "I like the football playoff idea, but I understand why we have the BCS. But I would love a playoff because I think it would level the playing field a bit."

Are you playing in the Missouri game? "I don't know. That's the plan, but it all depends on how I do when I get there."

What do you need to improve most before the start of the season? "I just need to get in shape. I'm not in shape right now, so I definitely need to get back in shape. (It's because of) the food down here and taking all these official visits. They're all trying to fatten me up."
