NIT tickets selling well  (Thursday, March 18, 2010)

CHAMPAIGN — Ticket sales for Monday’s NIT game went better than expected Thursday.
About 6,400 tickets were sold, including 4,200 reserved seats in A and B sections. A Section is sold out.

Softball streak's over  (Sunday, March 14, 2010)

COLUMBIA, Mo. – San Diego State cooled off Illinois' softball team, defeating the 21st-ranked Illini 5-3 on Sunday at Missouri's Children's Hospital Invitational to snap the squad's 10-game winning streak.

UI first baseman Meredith Hackett and third baseman Kelley Wedel each smacked home runs, but Illinois (16-2) could not overcome a five-run fifth inning by the Aztecs (15-8).

Future looks bright for Kuck, young U.S. squad  (Saturday, February 27, 2010)

RICHMOND, British Columbia – As veteran teammate Chad Hedrick was saying his goodbyes nearby, Jonathan Kuck was relishing his first Olympic experience.

Kuck, a 19-year-old Champaign speedskater, won a silver medal in team pursuit Saturday. The Urbana University High grad and Illinois junior-to-be became the first Champaign County male to medal at the Winter Olympics and, along with Champaign's Katherine Reutter, upped C-U's total to three at Vancouver.

Illinois student Jonathan Kuck is finished with his heat in the 10,000 meters longtrack speedskating event. Kuck finished in 13 minutes, 31.78 seconds.

After five skaters, Kuck was in third place.
