Three Illini gymnasts were selected Monday as Big Ten weekly award winners.
Junior Paul Ruggeri was named men's Gymnast of the Week, while Yoshi Mori earned the men's Co-Freshman of the Week honor.
The women's Gymnast of the Week award went to junior Allison Buckley.
Ruggeri won the all-around and high bar to lead Illinois to the team title of the season-opening Windy City Invitational on Saturday at Chicago. He also was the runner-up in floor exercise and vault. The weekly conference award was the fourth of Ruggeri's career.
In his first collegiate meet, Mori finished first in the vault. His 15.900 score was the second-highest of the meet for any event.
Buckley was the top all-around scorer and tied for the balance beam title in a three-team meet on Friday at Lincoln, Neb. She also was the highest finisher for second-place Illinois in vault and floor exercise. The weekly league award was the second of Buckley's career.
