With two more recruits commiting this week, University of Illinois football coach Ron Turner has 16 set to join his program.

Turner dismisses Illinois linebacker  (Thursday, January 30, 1997)

CHAMPAIGN – It's been a bad week for University of Illinois outside linebackers.

One day after touted freshman Eric Jefferson left school, Illinois announced on Tuesday junior Cyron Brown has been dismissed from the team. Coach Ron Turner said Brown "violated team rules."

Turner wouldn't elaborate on why Brown was dismissed.

Juco lineman headed to UI  (Thursday, January 30, 1997)

University of Illinois football coach Ron Turner gained more up-front help this week with the announcement that College of DuPage standout Matt Carlton (6-foot-5, 340 pounds) will sign with Illinois on Wednesday. Carlton is No. 16 on Turner's list of prospective signees.
