The preseason All-American teams are starting to be released. One of the first, from NationalChamps.net, includes three Illini.
Receiver ARRELIOUS BENN is on the third team. Quarterback JUICE WILLIAMS and tight end MICHAEL HOOMANAWANUI received honorable mention.
The first team includes one Big Ten player, Michigan punter ZOLTAN MESKO. Illinois opponents Missouri and Cincinnati each have a player on the first team. The Tigers are represented by linebacker SEAN WEATHERSPOON and the Bearcats honoree is kicker returner MARDY GILYARD.
Penn State running back EVAN ROYSTER, Penn State linebacker NAVORRO BOWMAN and Ohio State safety KURT COLEMAN are on the second team. Besides Benn, the third team includes Minnesota receiver ERIC DECKER, Indiana defensive lineman JAMMIE KIRLEW and Northwestern defensive lineman COREY WOOTTON. Fresno State kick returner A.J. JEFFERSON is also on the third team.
Williams is listed 16th on the Heisman list. Royster is ranked fifth and Penn State quarterback DARYLL CLARK is 18th. Ohio State quarterback TERRELLE PRYOR is 23rd.
