Rumors of Kraig Appleton's demise have been greatly exaggerated. That's the word from his coach at East St. Louis Senior, Darren Sunkett.

There has been message board talk about Appleton no longer being at the high school. Not true, Sunkett said.

"That's the street talking," Sunkett said. "I see him every day in school."

Appleton also will be attending Wisconsin, Sunkett said, which is contrary to Internet talk about him not making it.

Appleton, a News-Gazette All-Stater who helped the Flyers win the state title, originally made a commitment to Illinois. He signed with Wisconsin. Teammates Terry Hawthorne and Tommie Hopkins will be joining Ron Zook's team.
