IOWA CITY, Iowa — Illinois prep guard Ben Brust says he has verbally committed to play basketball at Iowa.

Brust, a 6-foot-2 native of Mundelein, has one year of high school ball left. He will be eligible to play for the Hawkeyes starting in 2010.

Brust says he picked the Hawkeyes over Northwestern, Butler and Stanford. He says Iowa's basketball program and its academics made the Hawkeyes a good fit.

Brust is Iowa's second verbal commitment for the Class of 2010. Forward Cody Larson of Sioux Falls, S.D., committed last September.
