Brumby
#22 Vanderbilt @ #10 Georgia (-15)
Victory Illinois Varsity: Huge test of Vandy's character here following the loss in Starksville. I think they bounce back and play hard against a better UGA team. 15 points is just too many to give away. UGA wins, but by somewhere in the 10-13 point range. VANDY

UI Pike: Vanderbilt

Brumby: Games don't seem to get easier for Vanderbilt in the SEC as they head into Athens this weekend to take on Georgia. Georgia is a better team and Vanderbilt is reeling, expect the Bulldogs to win big here. GEORGIA.

#16 Kansas @ #4 Oklahoma (-17.5)
Victory Illinois Varsity: Again, this is a ton of points to cover against a top 25 team. OU is an excellent team and will likely be pretty pissed off, but KU can score in a ton of ways. OU may hang 40 on the Jayhawks, but KU may answer with 30. Take KU.

UI Pike: Kansas

Brumby: Kansas may be a top 25 team here, but this is not the same team as last year's squad. Before last weekend's loss to Texas the Sooners were the best team in the country, and probably an easy twenty point win over Kansas in my mind. With the game in Norman and the Sooners looking to bounce back, they blow out the Jayhawks. OKLAHOMA.

#12 Ohio State (-3) @ #20 Michigan State
Victory Illinois Varsity: This may be the game I'm most looking forward to seeing this week. MSU has been very good so far, and OSU has been mediocre. On paper, theeeeeeee OSU has loads more talent, but the Bucknuts haven't really hit their stride. Now is as good of a time as any for this to happen. I think the Bucks make MSU one dimensional and Terrelle Pryor has his first real "holy crap, look at that guy" moment for the Bucks. OHIO STATE

UI Pike: Ohio State

Brumby: Michigan State is looking to jump to the top of the Big Ten, and a big win over Ohio State would prove the Spartans are there, at least for this year. I think the Spartans end up holding court at home and winning the game. MICHIGAN STATE.

#11 Missouri @ #1 Texas (-7)
Victory Illinois Varsity: Texas isn't as god as they looked last week and Mizzou isn't as bad as they looked last week. Look for the Tigers to be angry following their loss to theeeeeeee other OSU and look for the Horns to be a little too big for their britches with that big ole #1 next to their name. Take Mizzou not only with the points, but with the win.

UI Pike: Missouri

Brumby: Texas is happy after winning last weekend in the Red River Shootout, while Missouri is going to be upset after their loss in Columbia to Oklahoma State. This was Missouri's year for a BCS appearance, and they knew it, so they cannot afford another loss in conference. Look for Missouri to cover the 7, and win the game outright. MISSOURI.

Indiana @ Illinois (-16.5)
Victory Illinois Varsity: Last week was what Florida fans warned us about. The Illini beat the snot out of the Gophers for 80% of the game, racked up over 550 yards of offense and still laid a turd in big situations, making all those yards worth exactly nothing. The Illini must execute better in big situations. Must, must, must, must, must. No more sputtering inside the 20. No more turnovers deep in your own end. No more overguessing in the schemes. Line up and take it to the Hoosiers. This game shouldn't be close, especially with Kellen Lewis questionable for Saturday's action with a bum ankle. It's time to beat up on the weaklings. Illini 42-17.

UI Pike: Indiana

Brumby: If there is one thing that is consistent this season for the Fighting Illini, it is that they play flat at home. After last week's surprising loss to Minnesota, the Illini will be looking to come out and just dominate the Hoosiers. But the Illini have the limit the turnovers. I think Illinois comes out excited in front of what should be a drunk and raucous Memorial Stadium crowd, and takes the game to the Hoosiers. Illinois wins, and covers. ILLINOIS.

Vanderbilt@Georgia: Big test for Vanderbilt on the road. Vandy failed its road test last week @Mississippi State (SLY CROOM REPRESENT!) and gets a tougher one this week at the home of UGA. Georgia may not be as good as its preseason hype, but playing at home should be enough for the Bulldogs to win, but due to Bobby Johnson's great coaching (he is an alumnus of Clemson, would be a good hire there) the Commodores cover the number. VANDERBILT.

Kansas@Oklahoma. I like Mark Mangino. Offensive guru! He used to work for Bob Stoops and they remain friends today. Oklahoma had a tough loss last week vs. Texas. I like Oklahoma to win, but that point spread is awfully big. KANSAS.

Ohio State@Michigan State: Not sure what to make of this game. Not sold on Ohio State's offense. Not sold on Michigan State's staying power. I think this is a low scoring game, and Michigan State's experience at QB and home field advantage gives them the edge. MICHIGAN STATE.

Missouri@Texas: That giant sucking sound you hear is Missouri's national title hopes going down the toilet. Oklahoma State hit Chase Daniel early & often and really made Missouri's offense look stagnant. Meantime, Texas is the new #1 after a massive win over Oklahoma. There will be plenty of points scored and Colt McCoy will light up the terrible Missouri pass defense. TEXAS.

Indiana@Illinois. I took my parents, long-suffering UI fans to the game last week and it was a long ride back to Joliet. My parents own a cat named Muffin. Muffin is very aggressive towards other cats that may think they are tougher than her. In contrast, when Muffin catches a mouse (an opponent smaller than her), she plays with it, teases it, and ends up frustrated when the mouse gets away. That is how I feel watching Illinois football this year. INDIANA.

From Hector Villanueva:

Vandy vs. Georgia
The Commodores have been the suprise and feel good story of college football this season. They were on quite a roll until their setback last week at Mississippi State. Georgia rolled over a Tennessee team that will soon be without a coach. While I would love to go with one of my mancrushes here in picking Mark Richt's Bulldogs, I think the Commodores keep this game close in Athens, esp. with UGa coming off of a big victory. Georgia wins by a TD or less, but Vanderbilt covers. Vanderbilt.

Kansas vs. Oklahoma
A tough follow up to the Sooner defense this week when they face another high powered offense. However, this is not the Kansas team of last year and the Jayhawks are no Texas, either. I didn't think Mark Mangino could be any bigger than he was last year, but, I swear, he looks even larger this year! Anyway, Oklahoma is still one of the best teams in the nation and I think they rebound and roll this week at home. The Sooners cover the number. Oklahoma.

Ohio State vs. MSU
The premier game in the Big Ten this week. I am interested to see if the Spartans can continue the nice little season they are putting together and clinch the "suprise team of the Big Ten" award that I bestowed on them earlier in the year. Terrelle Pryor again faces a tough road Big Ten game, and general those do not treat true freshmen very nicely. However Ohio State won't see Allen Evridge on the opposing team's offense for this road game.....therefore, trouble for the Buckeyes. I think MSU wins the game and covers the number while doing it. Michigan State.

Missou at Texas
I've had this game circled since Mizzou beat Illinois on Labor Day. However, Missouri didn't own up to their end of the deal and laid and egg in losing at home to a good Oklahoma State game. Chase Daniel, you can't claim "I am a MAN!!" after that performance last week with 3 picks in the 4th Quarter! Texas rolled up huge numbers on a very good Oklahoma defense last week and I expect the same thing again this week. However, Mizzou might be very up for this game and perhaps Texas will be sluggish in rebounding from their big Oklahoma victory last week.
Texas wins by a very late FG, but Mizzou covers the number. Take Missourah.

Illinois vs. Indiana
Illini fans claimed that the beloved lost last week due to missed opportunities. Well, yes, that was one factory. But the big factor was that they got outplayed, outcoached and just flat out got out bullied by the Gophers. Despite all of the yards gained by Illinois, Tim Brewster's team made the plays when they had to and deserved to win that game. Indiana, well, they had a bowl given to them on a platter by their A.D. due to their schedule and have flubbed it up! Bill Lynch was a mistake hire from Day One and that really showed what the committment to football is in Bloomington. And due to the huge financial straits of the athletic department over there, it appears they might be stuck with Lynch until near the end of his contract. Anyway, the Hoosiers are dropping to about where I expected with Lynch as coach, and it will get worse from here. I expect the Illini to rebound and pound an untalented and beat up Hoosier football team. Take the Illini and the points. Illinois.

Oh really? Were we watching the same game? I disagree. I know I saw a Gopher team that was more aggressive, took it to their opponent, slapped their opponent in the face. Illinois might've gained a ton of passing yards, but I'd hardly say the Illini beat the snot out of the Gophers.

Absolutely we kicked their butt in 80% of the game. They had 2 substantive drives the entire game and we moved with ease on them.
