On channel 692 in SD on Comcast in Chicago. Northwestern / SIU got the main game and HD :(
OskeeWowWowDig
LL's first drive making our defense look like swiss cheese.
Got the game in HD on Dish Network in Chicago - maybe our D looks better in SD????

Josh Brent is playing, which allows Will Davis to move to the end, but the defense is swiss cheese right now.

Nice hit by Vontae, but I think that play will be reviewed.
OskeeWowWowDig
Ground caused the fumble it looked like when he put his hand (with the ball) out to brace the fall. Doesn't seem like they're review though.

Nice read by Deufrene on that run. It looked like they wanted that play to go outside to the right, but Dufrene saw the giant hole in the middle and made the cut back.
Brumby
Nice kick by Eller there, but I wonder what distance he can kick with his foot without a large wind at his back. I think 47 may be too far right now.

Also, you need three yards, why not run an out or an in with Benn to get him open instead of running the ball with him in the backfield?
OskeeWowWowDig
nice kick by eller. interesting that this week eller is on kickoffs as well. i wonder if that is due to MC's inconsistency last week that was discussed on the board.

good day so far for the kid. 1st 2 KOs through the back of the endzone, and a 51 yd FG.
JRocksIllini
HOLY CRAP!!!

Great strip...great run! TD ILL Defense!
OskeeWowWowDig
great strip by brit. still really concerned about the run defense. but we looked a bit better there on 2nd and 3rd down
Brumby
Wow, Miller just ripped that out of the QB's hands. You don't see that too often.

Springfield Illinois does not have the Illini game.

You'd think Comcast would be smart enough to move away from the main game and put on the game of greater regional interest, but Comcast is a group of #$%&@!ing idiots so I'm on the radio it appears.

if only we had some local media to do a big story on this travesty

ECIMEZ!
OskeeWowWowDig
hard to argue with that right now. it's maddening...we have some great players. it has to be the schemes, right?

Are the players great? I haven't seen much from any of them. I would assume it is some of both. Vontae is the only person in the defensive secondary thats looks worth a damn.

Well, we all have a big master plan to ignore this, you idiot.
DocWalk20
But now 10-3 good guys
Brumby
The Illini finally got a push from the defensive line once they got it to goal to go. Not surprisingly, once they did get that push, they stopped the run, and held them to a field goal.
DocWalk20
And name calling makes you look so mature, Loy.

Thanks, dad. Suggesting the local media won't try to figure out what is going on is idiotic.
OskeeWowWowDig
I said "some" are great. And yes, we have talent. The question is what is limiting that talent. For instance, it's weird that we get burned in a zone defense when we have 2 good cover CBs in Dere and Vontae

nice toss juice
DocWalk20
You're welcome. Didn't say I agreed with his "suggestion." I would think a member of the media would be able to communicate their points effectively without resorting to name calling, but what do I know?
OskeeWowWowDig
uggh...not good Juice, not good. maybe it's by design to get the defense as much practice as possible eusa_hand.gif
Harb99
thanks

great burst by Tez. finally getting some pressure on their line (and behind it).
Jillas
martez good to see you
OskeeWowWowDig
I really like Leshoure as a RB. DD is nice and fast, but Leshoure has that potential to punish you with every run.

Simple question: Why don't we give Benn routes that are downfield like we give to Hoo-man? I mean you have a great wide receiver and you use bubble screens and runs to get him the ball, and not routes down the field, or even seven yard outs or slants.

I have wondered the same thing. Benn is billed as this great receiver, but we don't seem to be able to put him in a position to demonstrate that. Certainly some of his crossing routes have the potential to be big gains, but I'd like to see him on the outside on a deep route every once in a while, too.
OskeeWowWowDig
great question. better yet, why has Benn only touched the ball once today on anything??

BleedILLINI
my guess is because they think he will be double covered but I would sure love to see it

Perhaps, with Benn's strength and open field running ability, they feel he has a better chance of breaking one of those plays rather than a deep one.

Edit: much like Sterling Sharpe.
Brumby
I don't think you can overturn it, but I think the second foot hit out of bounds before the ball hit the pylon. I think the first foot was in though.
Brumby
If that is the case, then why isn't he Illinois' full time running back?

Rejus Benn is a wide receiver, and he is billed as such. I want to get him the ball as much as possible, and I am fine getting him the ball in running situations and on short passes. I want to see him get the ball in other situations, like a seven yard out, a slant, a crossing pattern, etc. These are also plays that will get him the ball in the open field and allow him to use his speed and strength.

I was fine when they weren't doing it last year because they could easily be saying that they were protecting his shoulder. This year, what is the reason? If it is by complete design, that is poor offensive design. You have an NFL capable wide receiver, and you don't even get him the ball, let alone run routes where he would get the ball five to ten yards down the field.

Heck, on Dufrene's touchdown pass, Benn ran across the middle on a route that put him underneath the Louisiana linebacker. He was seven yards short of the goal line, and Juice honestly never looked at him, as he was 100% on Dufrene from the start.
OskeeWowWowDig
my lord does our KO coverage suck.

Looks like they are using him as more of a 50's-60's style halfback. Carrying the ball on occasion but primarily a reciever.
seedcorn
the problem is Juice is still learning how to complete a forward pass. He locks in on recievers and never looks at 2nd or 3rd options. Most of his passes are horizontal passes very few vertical.
seedcorn
Wish they would put McGee in for a series. Let Juice see all the open rercievers.
Jillas
if only juice had some accuracy
OskeeWowWowDig
did cumberland get in the game? gametracker said so.
ELoyWDWS
HE just dropped one.
