Yes, the season has been a let down, but just trying to see if there are going to be any Illini Tailgaters at the UC game the day after Thanksgiving.

I had four tickets but I dumped them. I bought them this summer through the Cincy Illini club, but at this point I don't want to support the Guenther-Zook regime. If you go, the Cincy Illini club is meeting at the Holy Grail, a bar adjacent to the campus and not far from Nippert Stadium. By the way, Nippert is a fantastic place to see a game and they serve beer there.

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. Does anyone know about the tailgating scene at UC?

There's tailgating at Nippert, but I don't know the details in terms of cost or whatever. Maybe the Cincy Illini club can help

There's not a whole lot of open parking lots around the stadium, it's mostly parking garages. Cincy is an urban campus, so it has a much different feel than Illinois. When I went, we parked in a garage that was on the other side of campus from the stadium (the campus isn't that big). There was a bunch of stuff going on around the stadium and we ended up hanging out at the visiting team tent and drinking beers there. It was a fun experience and it's really not a bad drive from Chicago. I'd go, but I refuse to support Guenther's idiocy.

Here's the map:

I think we tailgated on the Sheakley Lawn. By the way, if you go, don't miss going in their Hall of Fame (which I think is the Lindner Center). The national championship trophys are very impressive.

Alright, great that helps a lot. Btw how do they get to serve beer at the stadium? I was at West Point last weekend, and while beer wasn't allowed in the stadium they had a beer tent set up right outside. I thought that the NCAA prohibited this unless you had a waiver for luxury suites and the like.

I believe they used to serve beer at the Metrodome before the move to TCF Stadium (which is dry).

To the best of my knowledge its not the NCAA that prohibits it across the board. I know that they do not serve it at any tournament events.

It can be up the NCAA or the conference at their event ie (correct me if I am wrong) the Big Ten does not sell beer at the B10 Tourney. But most of the time it has to do with university property being state property or grounds.

For the most part if you have a staduim or event off campus, most of the time they sell beer, ie Minnesota in the dome, Louisville football (went to Illini game years ago their stadium is off campus), basketball game at the UC, or the Mizzou bball game.

But I don't know about this one because I looked it up and U of Cincinnati is a public university and from what I can tell the stadium is on campus.

I always thought it was a Big Ten rule, but I don't know.

They certainly had big ole cups of beer at the West Virginia game.

Have fun and bring home a win from those overrated saps!

You are correct. The Metrodome served beer.

I believe sale of alcohol has to do with the rules of the venue.

Just got this e-mail from the woman who runs Cincy Illini. Looks like they're still meeting at the Holy Grail.

Well, our Illini did not do well enough to justify the prime time spot next Friday so the game time has been set at Noon. The Holy Grail will be ready for our group at approximately 8:30 AM for those of you the want to pre-party early! We have reserved the lower level. There will not be food downstairs but plenty of bartenders to serve beverages. If you want food, you will just need to go upstairs and order and then bring it down or have them bring it down.

Yes, thanks I emailed her this morning and got on that list. If anyone wants cheap and I mean real cheap tix, I am posting on the ticket exchange. I will eat the extras I have before I sell to any UC bandwagoneers. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!!!

I'll pass. Sitting through a monsoon in the top row of the Horseshoe pretty much did me in for road trips this year.
