I went to see Zac Brown last night and had a great time, it was a great show.

If you get the chance to see this concert I highly recommend it.

On another note (pun intended) I saw AC/DC a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the

TOP 3 concerts I've ever seen.

Hmmm, didn't have you pegged as an AC/DC type person. Glad you enjoyed it, they are one of the best I have seen as well.

I'm a huge AC/DC fan and a huge classic rock fan, if only I could see Led Zeppelin now.

A question for country fans...after seeing Taylor Swift on SNL (first time I have seen her/heard her), why in gods name is she popular and winning awards? She can't sing a lick. It can't all just be based on her looks (she certainly isn't all that)...or is it?

She's got star power. I really can't describe it other than that. Taylor Swift is going to be a movie star within 5 years.

She reminds me of Alliyah, the R&B singer who passed away in a plane accident about 10 years ago just as her film career was beginning to take off.

she also writes her own songs, a relative rarity in commercial-country driven nashville.

she's also very young, 19 i believe.

i tend to agree that she's an awful singer but there are a number of other things at play here, i think.

Country stopped being good in 1975.

Only if you limit what country music is to what you see on television and mainstream media.

There are many amazing artists in both rock and country making music today. Unfortunately, it takes a bit of work to find them. The days when the most popular acts were also the most talented ones are LONG gone.

That's a big part of it, the songwriting.

My wife and daughter were watching a show on Swift so I sat down and watched a bit of it. I have to say she is pretty impressive for a 19 year old. Not only does she write songs and play guitar and piano, but she actually makes quite a bit of decisions regarding her tour, shows, etc. Definitely not a Spears or other pretty face singing head.

I think she has the respect of alot of people in Nashville for the reasons listed above...as well as the fact that she's not out getting wasted in LA clubs and showing her cooch getting out of cars at 1AM, etc.

As for the "star power" and not really being able to sing - agreed on both fronts from what I've seen.

In this day and age, star power begets star power.

She simply has "it"... She is talented is all facets of the business. Like other's have stated, she writes almost all her songs, choregraphs her shows, and works non-stop. She also is not a horrible singer. She is no Reba or Faith, but she is on par with Shania, Kellie Pickler, etc.

Except Kellie has a better... Oh, wait. Artificially enhanced.
