IMO, not sure how the ref's overturned that call. I thought it was close, but not close enough to overturn. I didn't see any good close up shots to show, without a doubt, that the ball had not left his fingers after the horn sounded. I am all for replay, but tonight I think the refs got it wrong. Thoughts?

it was too close to call, even in slow motion, which is why i'm very surprised it was overturned.

what a bummer for the bulls

I agree. Very, very close. Thought the call on the court would stand.

Isn't there some rule that under .3 seconds, the shot has to be a tip in? If this shot was no good, I think they need to move the time up to .4 seconds. I don't know how you can release a shot (not a tip in) any quicker than Miller did.

Not a huge NBA fan, but that was a great game.

I just got back from the game, and I think the shot probably didn't get off, but I think it was way too close to call, and the initial call by the refs was that it was good. Were the game in Denver, I would have expected it to be ruled no good. But I thought in Chicago it would be ruled good.

The interesting thing to watch after the shot went in was the reaction by all of the Bulls players. It was pretty cool to watch as you could tell they were excited and really wanted the win. Heck, Joakim bear hugged a guy that was sitting courtside and was running around like the Bulls just clinched something.

The NBA's rule of thumb is 0.2 or less and it has to be a tip in. Anything more and it can be a shot like what Miller did.

Don't know if that is an official rule or not but I have heard it discussed before. The thought being that it is physically impossible to catch and shoot with .2 seconds on the clock.

It is early in the season so still plenty of time to bounce back from this loss. But a win against a good Denver team would have been nice. This loss may also hurt the Bulls in the late part of the season as I think it will come down to them and maybe 1 or 2 other teams fighting for the 7/8 playoff spots. I don't think this is the last time this game will be discussed and how it may or may not affect the Bulls this season.

NBA'ers catch a lot of heat about being selfish and money driven, it was nice to see grown men celebrating what they thought was a great win for the team. I think the Bulls will make the playoffs and get bounced in the first round again, but I do like this team a lot. They truly seem to get along and work well together as a unit. And don't tell anyone this, but I am turning into a big Joakim Noah fan. Pretty unorthodox style of play, but he hustles and works his ass off. Just looking at him you can tell he worked hard this past off season to prepare himself for this current season.

As the play was being reviewed I told myself not to be pissed when it gets ruled no good.

So I didn't.

I have a hard time getting to pissed about NBA games unless it is the playoffs. Now if this was IU-UI, without a doubt my remote control would have found itself in about a 1,000 pieces across the living room somewhere.

Yep, it was awesome. The smile on Brad Miller's face looked like a ten year old boy that just saw boobs for the first time. It wasn't leaving his face until the refs took it away from him.

I love the players on this team, but I don't like how it is constructed. You have a point guard who is an ideal drive and kick point guard, and you have no one to kick the ball to. This year, I do love their offense, but it is geared around the worst shot in basketball, the long two pointer. What I love is their extended use of flex cuts, side pick and rolls, and a high post passer (played surprisingly well by Joakim).

I love Joakim, and pretty much have since he was on a team I cheered for. But he is a different person this year than he was last year. He was always a lunch bucket guy, but now he is better than that. I think something clicked in his head during that Boston series, and he has just been different. I have loved how when people continuously asked him about the series and his coast to coast dunk over Pierce, he said it didn't matter because the Bulls lost the series. I think Noah and Rose are the only two players guaranteed to be on the Bulls for a long time (though Deng is a 99% lock).

I think picking Miller up last year from Sacramento was huge. He has lost what little athletic ability he used to have but you can see some of his game in Noah now. No doubt that Noah's improved passing and offensive game is a direct tie to Miller being around. And Deng is deadly from about 3 feet inside the arc, if only he could take a step backwards and knock down a consistent 3 it would add an entire demension to this team they are desperately lacking. This is the first team post-MJ in Chicago that I really enjoy watching. Their deficiencies are there, but they won't lose games because of an inability to compete. And my biggest surprise since last season is actually Vinnie Del Negro. He still makes some decisions that make me scratch my head, but coming into the NBA with no coaching experience...let's just say I am pleased with the job he is doing considering his experience.

got tickets last minute and went...glad I did.

game was pretty average first half, but a great 4th quarter for sure.

i have no idea how they overturned that call either.

on a separate note, i'll give this to all the NBA Diehards here -- not much beats being at a game. been to a handful over the last couple years and those who call NBA entertainment first...i don't buy it. those guys are out there busting tail most of the time.

and man, i can't help but be a fan of Noah. that guy works his ass off on the court.

Bulls have potential.

and Carmelo Anthony is unstoppable when he wants to be. just another level. Deng couldn't play much tougher D on him down the stretch and still couldn't stop him. (and Deng looked pretty nice too on offense).

fun game. refs had no business overturning that call, but hey, at least it's still early in the season.

Go Bulls.

Rich McBride was the 1st thing I thought of after that shot.

So were the Globetrotters and Washington Generals the one time I saw them (way back when in Meadowlark's day).

Quick question for you Brumby, did they show the shot a few times on the video board for the fans to see while the officials reviewed the call? Not that it is important, just curious.

I think they showed it twice. From the video board you couldn't tell, but it looked like it was still in his hands. They mostly were showing the players and the coaches as they watched the refs.
