Sun-times quotes Zook:

‘‘Mikel hasn’t done anything wrong. He’s still going to play,’’ Zook said. ‘‘This keeps [the tailbacks] on edge a bit. We have to find a way to get Daniel back in there. It’s the guy that has the hot hand. It’s hard to maintain the level of intensity you have to have to play well. [At Minnesota,] Jason was the hot hand.’’

So, Mikel runs 350 yards in two games and then plays behind Ford.(?) I bet Mikel would have gained even more yards against MN if he had 20 carries. Why can't Zook settle on a 1-2 punch and go with it? eusa_wall.gif

Yet the Zooker will leave punt returners in when their productivity is non-existent. Even Ron probably can't explain some of his decisions.

On a different note, can we be somewhat professional and quit using the swinging gate? Please?

I think Ford should be getting a majority of the carries. He has excellent instincts as a runner. IMO he will be on a NFL roster one day.

Ford ran really well last week. The kid really knows how to get yards after getting hit. I'm happy to have both these guys. I don't think it matters who is no. 1. Just give them both plenty of touches and things will take care of themselves. I say this is no controversy.

What is a controversy is why Zook can't figure out how to call a timeout.

LeShoure is the total package as a runner, receiver, and blocker. He's the clear #1 RB, IMO.

That said, Ford is EASILY the second best back on the team.

This is a nice argument to have in an otherwise crappy season. Very strong arguments can be made for either and the team would still be successful in the running game.

I would say a big problem or puzzling, and not a controversy. eusa_wall.gif

LeShoure deserves to be #1. Zook tries to hard to make everyone happy.

Ford had a better practice, got the start, then lo' and behold:

CODE
         CAR    YDS    TD   LG
Ford      20     82     1   18
LeShoure  10     25     0    6

It may not be because of his play ON the field that he isn't our number 1 back..

Ford should be the number 1 back, period. He consistantly gains yards after the first hit, and has an instinct for the zone.

i agree wuth Zook as between the two. If u re-watch the game Ford made more out of his opportunities. I love Leshoure and he shouyld start some games as well. I disagree about DuFrene. Three's a crowd and it will take carries away from the other two>

If he grows 3 inches, drops the gut, and cuts his 40 time in about half, then sure.

Not so sure. LeShoure is better.
